Mid-Year Clarity

Vision Check-In: Are You Still Headed Where You Intended?

It’s January 1st and after spending the last week or so of December, your list of goals for yourself and your business was complete. You felt prepared. Ready. Ready to lead your team into  quarter 1 and the year. “Let’s do this!” you thought.

January was off to a great start; everything was going according to plan and you led with confidence. You started noticing a shift halfway through February, beginning of March. The plan seemed to be veering off course, and by May, your confidence was waning and you found yourself reacting more on defense than leading proactively on offense.

Before you knew it, it was mid-year, and things looked nothing like they did at the start of the year.

You felt nothing like you did in January—and the ripple effects of that disorientation likely began to show in your team’s focus, energy, or alignment. And to all of that, I’d say stop and take a deep breath. You’re not too late to get back on track and realign with your intended vision.

There’s an old proverb that says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is today.” While you may not be trying to become an arborist, the same applies to whatever business you’re building or seeds you’re wanting to sow. All hope isn’t lost. While you can’t undo what’s behind you, you can reset today. Today is the next best day, in fact.

If you feel chaos and confusion on this runaway train, I can guarantee you your teams do too. So rather than saving face, stop the train, collaborate with your team to reevaluate and realign your vision, and start again. Have the conversation, create a plan, and take action together. While I know that sounds easier said than done, creating clarity that unites is one of our passions at DRYVE Leadership Group.
